Separated not divorced yet, living in different states...

One HH with one child,
The other not HH but with one child.

2006 taxes filed joint and itemized deductions.

2006 received substantial refund from the state (NC).

How to file Itemized this year?
I am HH with one child and the house (now on the market).

How to apportion the NC state refund? My spouse earned 60% of our joint
W2 incomes.

IRS Publication guidance?

Carl

Then file HoH. If you don't qualify, then you file MFS, NOT SINGLE.
Both of you must claim either itemized deductions or the standard deduction;
not one claiming each.

That's a matter of state law. I'm not in NC.
